Q: What exactly is Lonestar Poker?
A: Lonestar Poker is the future of free Texas Hold ‘Em. We offer top of the line service at an affordable price. For a set nightly fee and a monthly prize fee, we provide two No Limit Texas Hold ‘Em tournaments a night, a complete marketing package (featuring direct, print, radio, and internet marketing), special events, and most importantly, exposure for your bar or restaurant. We make slow nights busy, and busy nights busier!
Q: What can you offer my bar/restaurant?
A: Our goal is two fold. One, we help to bring in a concentrated number of customers on slow nights. By offering free Texas Hold ‘Em tournaments in our league structure, players are competing for prizes, which keep them coming back week after week. Two, we help to create repeat business on nights you’re not running poker. A person might hear about our game through the internet, the Austin Chronicle, or word of mouth, and stop in for a game at your establishment. After playing in our efficiently run and well-managed game, the person likes your establishment so much that they decide to return on another night for dinner or a drink! We give you the opportunity to show off your establishment to an entirely new customer base!
Q: How many people are in your tournaments?
A: We provide tournaments of all sizes, depending on the establishment. Each establishment creates a different crowd with different sizes depending on a lot of factors. We can tell you that we have experience running games as small as 2 tables (16 people) and as big as 120 (13 tables +). We’ll work with you to create a game as big or as small as you want.
Q: How much does it cost the customer?
A: Absolutely nothing! Our games are totally free to enter.
Q: What do the players play for?
A: Top finishers receive points for their play. Those points are kept on our website, and the top overall finishers are invited to our monthly final, where we give away grand prizes in cash (up to $1,000 for first place) and other prizes from our sponsors.
Q: Is this legal? If so, how?
A: Free Texas Hold ‘Em tournaments in bars and restaurants are completely legal. As long as there is no buy-in, there is no violation of Texas Penal Code in giving away prizes. Texas Attorney General Gregg Abbott issued a paper stating as much in June of 2005. For more information on the legalities and Attorney General Gregg Abbott’s decision, just ask your Lonestar Poker representative, and we’ll be happy to provide more info.
Q: What makes you different from the other free poker companies?
A: There are a lot of reasons we feel we are the best company to offer free poker. First, we have more experience than any other company in actually running free tournaments in Austin. We place a high premium on the quality of the product we offer, and we work hard to maintain that. Second, we put a lot of stock in our relationship with our clients. Their needs come first. We don’t want to be a fly-by-night operation that only runs for a few months. We want to work with you to create more business for you on a consistent basis. Third, we’re focused on always looking outside the box on new ways to make your business and ours more successful. We have plans for a membership system, an advanced ordering system to facilitate your wait staff, and an intensive marketing strategy to cater to poker players and non-poker players alike. Finally, our price is the most competitive you’ll find. Our business model is based on the idea that you’re our clients, and we work to help you. We’re not out to make a lot of money fast, or to price you out of being able to afford our product. We’ll work with you to find a price that compensates us appropriately, and is within your budget.
